“A poem on paper is nothing more than a piece of writing that may be used for anything that can be done with a piece of writing.”
This event celebrates the multiple forms a poem can take and the multiple voices it can accommodate. It brings together four artists bound by their shared passion for poetry and the arts.
Poetry: Eleni Cay, Robert Peake and Anna Selby
Piano: Valerie Kampmeier
Visual Art: 'Did you know? This is Slovakia'
Roll up, roll up for our next pop-up festival in the bohemian circus of Fitzrovia. Yes it's another Parthian Pop-up @The Wheatsheaf on Sunday the 6th of December.
From 2pm poet Kate Noakes will hop over from Paris to read from her rich fifth collectionTattoo on Crow Street (Parthian, 2015) and Eleni Cay will join her to read from her recently published pamphlet Autumn Dedications (Westbury Arts).
From 4pm Richard Owain Roberts will read from his debut short story collection All The Places We've Lived (Parthian, 2015) and former Somerset Maugham Award winner Mark Blayney will read from his latest short story collection Doppelgangers (Parthian, Nov 2015). They will be joined by winner of the New Welsh Writing Award 2015 Eluned Gramich, who is hopping over from Germany to share some of her short fiction with us.
Do join us!
In this exhibition, Kate and I juxtapose poetry and visual art, creating a piece of art which celebrates the boundaries between magic and life, colours and words, freedom to imagine and obligation to truthfully represent.
